About Us

L3-Cities is a spinoff consulting company from the CityScience group at the MIT Media Lab, directed by Kent Larson. Larson's 2012 TED talk, "Brilliant designs to fit more people in every city," summarized his vision for cities in the future and first presented ideas for the 15- or 20-minute city.

His 2021 talk, Resilient Communities and Sustainability, for the Norman Foster Foundation On Cities Masterclass Series updates this vision.

L3, or Larson Living Labs, builds on Larson’s role as an originator of the Living Lab concept almost twenty years ago
